We (Bob) found this picture garaging!

Trouble is I don't have a lot of red in our home...

Should I get my very talented sister to change the roses to pink...or sell it!

I am crazy for the frame & the shape,

So of course I want to keep it!

Chandelier

The life of a rental chandelier

First we strip the chandelier of all its crystals..

Then we tape off what won't be sprayed...

Then it gets suspended from our high tech holder
(wow the grass is kinda white...overspray!)

And after we add extra sparkle...

it gets to go to weddings!

This Linen Press is a wonderful piece we have looked for for 20 years!

We finally found one last fall!

It has pull out shelves on the top half behind those doors,

and great feet!

The colour is so deep.

The cane chair we have a set of 4.

I love the rich warm honey colour of the wood.

This wonderful alter candle has a bit of blue on it!

We love to sell @ our booth..but for now these are staying home!

We love mirrors, their reflective quality & their frames!

This is a picture of our front hall, you can see a gold framed mirror on the opposite wall.

We have sold many mirrors.

I won't bore you with the number of mirrors we have hanging in our home!

(we have to store them somewhere! before they go to the booth!)

Meet my beautiful mother, Colleen. Not only is she a wonderful, loving, and giving mom,

she's an incredibly talented interior decorator and creative extraordinaire!

She is the creator and owner of Vintage Home and has been involved in many magazine publications,

including House & Home and O Magazine.

She has a booth at the Fort Langley Antique Mall, and has been involved in many events,

including the Fieldstone Vintage Market. I went to the Fieldstone Vintage Christmas Market today,

I bought linen coloured shades...

WE had an amazing day!
The sun shone down on us all day.

I could not have done the day without Shelley, she is such a great friend and a wonderful support..not to mention a hard worker! Shelley works @ Roses & Rutabagas and has great style, loves vintage & anything pretty or with roses on it!

Shelley is a sweetie and I barely gave her a break, except to maybe visit a few booths for minutes only...we where that busy!
If people saw us fighting at the end of the day...well we weren't we where negotiating.....!
We both love the same things!

To Bob, my husband loading unloading..getting us stuff and helping buyers to their cars.

The owner of Ecco Dairy said to me as we where closing up..."I saw your husband unloading everything yesterday with you and then today he just carried it all out to the parking lot to other cars!"...and yes he did.

Last Fall I was part of a "Styled" wedding shoot.
Mikaela Ruth Photography asked me to

supply & style ( I had no idea what I was doing!)

for a photo shoot that was a combined effort...read on...

"It’s been a goal of mine to connect with other local wedding vendors, and also gain further wedding photo experience. Last fall everything came together to reach and work toward these goals. And in the process, have a fabulous time doing so, working with A LOT of talent, found in some amazing women!

It started with an idea and one by one, the pieces that made our shoot successful materialized. First of all, I was SO thrilled to have Colleen Sawatsky of Vintage Home come on board with her designer touches and eye for fabulousness. She was able to pull my ideas that were dancing around in my head and make them come to life.

A styled wedding shoot wouldn’t be complete without some sweet treats…Whitney Barkman, my sister and student at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, whipped up these pretty concoctions. On the menu? Macaroons with raspberry ganache, and chocolate cupcakes and chocolate layer cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Whitney has also started making specialty cakes and desserts for parties and events.

I was also lucky enough to get to work with Kari of Confetti Floral. Ohhh does she ever put together the most stunningly unique flower arrangements! It was so fun planning with Kari and Colleen, but honestly, I pretty much just sat there and took in their back and forth on colours, flower names and designer terms that were foreign to me. But it all sounded really good and sure enough, what they provided was nothing short of eye candy delightfulness. Kari puts so much heart and passion into her work. I’ve already told her that she’ll be doing my flowers one day!

It was such a great experience! The bride & groom smiled threw the cold.
Our furniture & accessories tried to hold their own against the glow of the couple (they really are married) & the wonderful old barn!
It was a great team effort and Mikaela captured it beautifully!

The pets are going to have to get off the garden furniture

(I hope no one is allergic to cats!..

or dogs cuz we have a sweet black lab that visits often!)

Right now the garden is a little low on colour we seem to be between blooms!

But the conversation will make up for it!

Vintage Lanterns New Home!

Remember these Lanterns in our back yard?

We loved them for about 5 years...but it was time for a change!

They hung @ random heights and so many talked about how

their parents had them when they where growing up!

Since we hung ours up I have seen them on a web site of a store owner

in S. Calif. for $189 each!

So funny .....ours where not that much!

THIS is their new home!

A wonderful farm house porch!

Vintage Style Wedding

Emily & Thomas
(Emily is Bobs niece)
She wanted a wild bouquet & most of the flowers where from gardens near her family home.Bob & I did the table centre pieces and all bridal party flowers ...for the whole wedding for less than a trip for lattes!

Emily & Thomas envisioned the decor & with a bit of our stuff the hall was decorated.

We used one of our frames to hold the paint chip (great idea Emily did!) guest seating arrangement!

This is the beautiful & yummy cake!

Emily collected books and some where just a hoot!

I don't have a pic of the stunning chapel they where married at but this

These pictures are a few days after they left and with my sad picture taking.

It does not do justice to the fab job these ladies did!

There was a sisal rug....The shutters looked better....

The mirror on the right side wall is a wonderful way to deepen the garden & reflect light.

We use mirrors everywhere!

The reason I am posting is that the magazine is no longer.

But I am hopeful someone will adopt the story and publish it. So I can only show bits.

I reupholstered the furniture...very badly...sorry girls !

I need to redo it !

These are old living room "SWAG" lamps form the 70's (?)

They are a great amber colour.

The reason this picture is here is because these lamps are going to go to a farm house porch.

Powered up and hung one after the other over a long harvest table.

I will show you what that looks like when they go to their new home!

These lamps have been admired by many and could have been sold many a time,

but I like the funky feel they add to the patio

(We are very excited as this is happening almost outside our front door!

The historic town of Clayburn Village is the setting and it has wonderful old buildings!
I really like the way Rachel & Lily set up their blog how they highlight everything....
...not to mention the products they sell in their etsy store!)

We first met Colleen Sawatsky of Vintage Home at the Ivory Vintage Market in White Rock last August. She is so sweet and was one of the first vendors to sign on for The Old School Market and has been beyond supportive of us through these planning stages! Colleen is an avid collector of all things pretty and her lovely work has been featured in Canadian House & Home, Style At Home, Country Living and even in O Magazine...how's that for a resume!

We most recently recognized her fresh take on beachside decor in this adorable guest cottage featured in Style At Home. The photos were coincidentally taken by one of our blog friends, the very talented Janis Nicolay of Pinecone Camp.

Fridays Pretties!...Cobalt Goblet!

Over 15 years ago we bought these Cobalt coloured goblets.......
We use them for a while...then they get ignored.
(If you have seem my posts about my Dish Pantry you would know we have LOTS of choice!)
I usually pair them with our Wexford (we call them big diamond little diamond!) clear goblets
They look so pretty & sparkly up against the cobalt blue.
I am using them here with my pretty navy Calico dishes, White Serviettes & Vintage Silver.

This is Valentines Day @ our house....

Our 20 year old daughter is at this moment having a bunch of friends over for .."the Single ladies" Valentines Day Fondue Party!...

Just a lot of talking laughing ...pizza movies & of course Chocolate fondue!

My husband has to work, our oldest daughters husband had to go out of town on business...so our oldest & I are eating pizza & fondue up in the master bedroom!
We celebrated as a family the night before!

This Vintage Home antique chair is reupholstered in

100% Natural Linen, with a cane back.

The cushion has a medallion of tatting made by my grandmother.

This Vintage Home dresser is painted Benjamin Moore " Cloud White.

I think Miss Mustard Seed really likes a good old fashioned white Jug!

Filled with flowers or cutlery its so charming & pretty.

Its not a store or a booth, but......a book shelf!

VILLAGE ANTIQUE MALL

Fort Langley British Columbia

Hundreds of people stream threw this mall daily...

I know now cuz I have been there a lot lately!

I am hoping this will translate into happy people!

Who want to have our stuff!

There are lots of booths here and one day I hope to get one.....long wait list!

This town has many historic buildings

Wonderful stores....

And many more examples of great style!

Mouse Tree....

This is how it all started...

Over 35 years ago when Bob had just began teaching

a "Mom" gave him 12 of these handmade hand painted Meeses!

The body a walnut shell the face a hazelnut...a sweet homemade quilt & a rubber band tail!

So, over the years he added different homemade ones

...in those days that was all you could get...

Then we got married

and as the years trucked on we added ones that where kinda memory related

or just darn cute!

People bought us ornaments....the kids picked many.

We have bought things that have a some meaning

(e.g. Starbucks Christmas ornaments...) and added mice to them!

And then on top, a Mouse Angel...

paper banners that say ...

"and to all a good night"

"not a creature was stirring not even a mouse!"

...and we have a

Mouse Tree!

There is one Cat ornament!...some ladders & pearl rope.

It takes hours to decorate & undecorate...and if we even mention

"well maybe we won't put it up"

Whoa......well its allways gone up!

I know its time to get ready for Christmas

...but its so cold here and I have been under the influence of a pesky flu...

These pictures just make me feel warm!

Mostly because they are reminders of our beautiful daughters trip .....

She took these pictures three years ago while traveling!

After spending 2 months in Bible School in

AUSTRIA!

She backpacked for 5 weeks with friends.

Italy Greece Germany France Ireland England!

About a week per country!

Not enough she says!

Hit the high spots and will go back again

next time with her husband!

But this is one of the places I would love to go!

Santorini Greece!

Ahh sweet girl!...so glad she had this adventure!

And To top it off our youngest is coming home in 3 sleeps

from Australia and New Zealand!

We will be getting ready for Christmas here..but we

decided to paint!...

So I will be busy getting some Christmas pictures done....

But for now I have to get going and see what everyone else is up to!
