Mouse Tree....

This is how it all started...
Over 35 years ago when Bob had just began teaching
a "Mom" gave him 12 of these handmade hand painted Meeses!
The body a walnut shell the face a hazelnut...a sweet homemade quilt & a rubber band tail!
So, over the years he added different homemade ones
...in those days that was all you could get...
Then we got married
and as the years trucked on we added ones that where kinda memory related
or just darn cute!
People bought us ornaments....the kids picked many.
We have bought things that have a some meaning
(e.g. Starbucks Christmas ornaments...) and added mice to them!
And then on top, a Mouse Angel...
paper banners that say ...
"and to all a good night"
&
"not a creature was stirring not even a mouse!"
...and we have a
Mouse Tree!

There is one Cat ornament!...some ladders & pearl rope.
It takes hours to decorate & undecorate...and if we even mention
"well maybe we won't put it up"
Whoa......well its allways gone up!
Merry Christmas!

p.s. we also have an angel tree & the winterwonderland tree
yes...three!

How special that a thoughtful mother gave a gift that started a collection that would fill the tree every year. A very sweet story.

It's truly wonderful how traditions are begun. And how they are kept going with the seasons of love.

What a sweet story of your mouse tree tradition. I bet that Mom would be so blessed to hear what she started all those years ago.
I also LOVE the white, silver and gold tree. I think it all looks great mixed together. And I LOVE urns. It's just beautiful.
Have a Merry CHRISTmas and a New Year full of family blessings,
Missy

Oh how I love this tree!

So glad I stopped by to take a peek today. I love the way the tradition was started with a teacher's gift. I always put a lot of love and TLC into the gifts for my kid's teachers. Never underestimate the power of a thank you to a special teacher.

I'm smiling as I think of it all. Might have to try a few of those walnut shell babies myself.

best to you in 2011,

Cori
